How does Van Gogh suggest 3 dimensional space in his original “Postman Joseph Roulin” (1888)?

How does Van Gogh suggest 3 dimensional space in his original “Postman Joseph Roulin” (1888)? I’m honestly confused by what this means and I know he is sitting on a chair, resting his arm on a green table next to him but I am not sure if that explains this question about the picture. Can anyone please help? Thank You
